Talent hunt shows and public voting

Two controversial issues addressed till now by me,issues which have come out of the deep intricacies of my heart and which have often befuddled my acts.I dont know if to an anonymous person i am sounding like a solitary loon but ya i do believe my blogs would definitely appeal to a person in solitude.........
well i am running short of topics now ,topics that would fit into the same league; So i choose an abstract one this time :controversial ofcourse,"Talent hunt shows and public voting ".
There seems to be a deluge of Talent hunt shows these days on television with every channel coming out with new innovative shows testing a variety of talents . All these shows are superb but have lost their essence because of two reasons firstly by letting people decide the fate of innocent contestants.Secondly, similar shows running on different channels with stark difference in the quality of contestants.
I have been following two very popular shows "Indian Idol 2 " and "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" both singing competitions nearly similar in all respects (judging, prizes, presentation etc.) but differing on the main subject, the quality of singing .If indian idol2 contestants are tyros then SGMPA ones are virtuoso in the art of singing. But the accolades that they recieve follow their position in their respective competition. The person standing seventh or eigth in "SGMPA" could easily have been the winner in Indian Idol 2 and be part of all the adulation and fame which has now eluded him/her .
Coming to the more important point ,the public voting system .Public voting becomes baseless when regionalism ,money and ignorance starts overriding the talent being sought . A contestant singing a super hit song is most likely to get higher votes than his counterpart singing a less known song . If the song happens to be of ur liking u like it otherwise u pass on comments like 'He is good but not up to the mark' without actually knowing the mark .Normally people doesnt heed to sur or taal of the song for they dont know about it .Regionalism plays much more grave role where chauvinism for state paves the way to success for some lucky contestant. The entire competition reduces to a pity sms count with people blindly SMSing out of their love for state ,not for the singer .Your place of birth and monetary position holds more significance than ur talent .
All i can say in the end is hope either these shows change or people of our country .
