Is it possible to speak truth 100% of the time ,No, especially when you are in love. Love makes you do things you hate !! Ironical it is as it sounds ....
When you love someone you tend to start lying and this frequency of lying is actually directly propotional to the intensity of love. Is it ? Or if it is, its not love ? what is it ?
More you love someone more you care about not hurting him/her and more frequently you praise ,appreciate stuff that might not exactly be of your liking ,But who said that being in love means you like everything about the other person and if this is the case ,is there a need for lying ?
Love that is expressed through lies is no love at all ,because its not sustainable , you cant force yourself to like what you dislike
Some would say , No they dont lie , they say what they feel , but if its just about feeling , then feelings are ephemeral ,they change and hence its nothing but an expression that holds true only for a split second when its said.
A truth remains a truth ,no matter what , today and tomorrow and thus if you dont stick or lose belief in what you said before then it wasnt an expression of love ,but a momentary feeling or a lie said to express your love.
The irony is more you are crafted in such lies, more is your love (on paper) !! But I guess that is not what is meant when one says "I love you" ......

Can someone change your fortunes ?
Can someone change your fortunes ?? This is a question with which I have often grappled a lot without reaching a definite answer.
The scientific part of my brain tells me that its the individual himself who is responsible for what happens to him/her ,good or bad. No one else can be blamed or applauded for any results. Those who oppose this idea would quote "one is known by the company he keeps" and hence the people around you influence your ideas and actions and hence the results.
My argument to the above will be , go and think how many people have you met in your life , and how many do you think had an influence on your attitude or actions. I am sure each one of us would arrive at a number less than 10. The point to be considered is if you were affected by such a small percentage of people and not by such a large percentage of people ,does`nt that mean its you, yourself who allowed some to influence and others not to influence. This change that you bring in yourself under the influence of others might lead to good or bad results, but its you who is responsible for that.
Often, with a few favourable and few not so favourable results we start considering someone close to us as lucky or unlucky. If its the latter case , its a problem , because you hold someone else responsible for your incompetencies and more than that tag him unlucky as well. if its the former case, its still a problem because you will feel dependent on the other person for your success.

Life, As it is .........
when optimism tried to hide the truth,
unaware its difficult to sustain the froth,
especially when its no more your heyday.
I looked up, in the mirror, there was no tear,
as if it did not matter,
I moved a little closer, dig in a bit deeper
and all I could see was fear.
Life continues ,as they say ,to move on,
because of the several frills and many riders,
I continue to fight and remain a fighter,
but have lost the passion to say Rock ON !!

Finance Vs Marketing
There are a variety of Business schools today in the country offering MBA programmes to thousands of students. The course structure, the industry interaction ,the faculty is different for different schools but one thing that remains common is the dilemma that nearly 90% of MBA students face ,whether to take marketing or finance as a major.
Most of the students are engineers having worked in IT and ITES companies with little knowledge of the work culture ,job profile in marketing and finance. To me while marketing is a subject which is extremely boring to study (because its just common sense) ,finance is something where you will have to burn the night lamp and dig deep into concepts to catch hold of some of them and is thus interesting and something new which is worth the effort. But as you leave the college and join the corporate world the two subjects change hands and marketing becomes interesting to practise because it lets you to think differently every day whereas finance becomes a rather mundane job with little scope to think out of the box. This is the dilemma !!
If you are an MBA graduate or graduating ,think of the people in your class who opted for marketing and finance. I am sure a significant percentage of the people who opted for marketing would be those who dont like studying too much, who are more insouciant and a bit careless as well whereas the finance guys would possess opposite traits and will be much more sincere towards studies etc. (ofcourse these are not neccasary or sufficient conditions to categorise students).
Perhaps its not just the inherent nature of these two subjects but also the way course is structured and the teaching pedagogy is defined. If FIN could be taught with a bit more of FUN and Marketing with a bit more of seriousness probably there would be a difference in the outlook and a better mix of people could be achieved.

Just one of those days when I feel FU***D up ....
The tendency and habbit of playing safe actually freaks me out sometimes, its like something that makes me feel helpless, weak and tied up. I see myself pulled towards something strongly but I cant move cos I cant take risk or rather I dont wanna take risk because I wanna bloody play safe. There are times when I feel goosebumps while discussing an idea , when I wanna jump out and do it forgetting everything but what I do is I go to sleep, to go to the same shitty, monotonous, unexciting job place next morning.
These are times you know when I forget how to spell a simple word like exciting (I actually spent 2 mins thinking on it now) because I can see nothing now, remember nothing now ,what I can feel is the heart beat ,the rush in the viens ,a ...... what do I say , okie a feeling where my legs are kinda not stationary but moving asking me to come along, move along
I feel am at the wrong place doing wrong thing for the wrong people at a wrong time for a wrong reason and now whats happening is I am doubting whether I have wrongly spelt the word wrong.I dont know if all this makes any sense to anybody who reads this blog ,but you feel it only when you feel it.
I guess the problem is bloody money , you need to have it to survive ,imagine a world where free food , free accomodation is there, no expenses on living , God you could have just done things at your will. Do this ,move on to next, I dont need to make it a sustainable business , I can just do it and move to the next or stick to it if I like. Everything free for everyone ,wow what would it result into one person doing work for other person , a farmer harvesting wheat for food , not for money, he eats the same food as I do, I develop a mobile phone for communication not for money, he uses the same mobile phone as I do .... so on and so on. Perfect symbiosis ......
P.S. - There might be wrong spellings or there might not be, its just one of those days .....

The practise of marriage
I have often questioned the policies and the culture of the West and to be true have been rather critical about them. Lately though my standpoint seems to be changing about atleast one practise prevalent there that is the freedom to have sex.
India being a traditional society, sex before marriage is still considered to be taboo and people are not really open about it in front of their parents or prospective bride or groom. One essential reason of people marrying in India is probably sex, cos they can have sex only after marriage and as it is one of the primary needs ,marriage becomes a necessity. What I mean to say is it becomes a sort of compulsion and not choice. Look at the west ,where hardly there are virgins before marriage. This means when they marry ,they don`t do it for that physiological need of their`s but because they want to be with that person more than they can do now and possibly because they love each other`s company. The marriage in this case is by choice.
Now choice is always better than compulsion, this is the essence of being free and having the right to freedom. A marriage should happen when you need somebody else to move with you in your life, when you feel there is a need of somebody else taking care of you and you taking care of him/her, when you feel you need somebody else`s advice in decision making and when you feel you need to have children. The people in west probably marry when they feel such a need , and Indians probably feel or generate such need after they have married.

SARHAD, Kya hai ?
SARHAD, kya hai ?
Ek mamuli se Lakeer,
Ek rekha jo likhti hai laakhon ki Takdeer,
Ya ek Deewar ,jiski ek taraf Raja aur dusri taraf Fakeer.
SARHAD, Kya hai?
Ek Jagah jahan bin deewar gunje Aawaj,
Ek manch jahan goliyan aur barood har roz kare Saaz,
Ya dharti ka ek Tukda, jiske neeche dafn hai lakhon ke Humraaz,
SARHAD,kya hai?
Do mulkon ke rishton ke beech ki Darar,
Ek dehleez jisne baanta hai insaanon ka Pyaar.
Ya fir sirf netaon ke khel ka ek Darbar,

Real or Unreal .....
Its a long time I have written something and the reason is I was not really finding any topic of my taste to write upon.
The other day I was watching Matrix(yet again) and everytime I watch it there are some dialogues that really catch my attention, one of them being the conversation between Neo and Morpheus in Neo`s first visit to the World of Matrix. Neo asks " Is it real" and Morpheus asks " what is real?"
What is real, actually what is it? whatever our sensory organs recieve and what our brain interprets ,is that real ? The implication is reality can be different for different people ,what I find real might be unreal to you .Reality then is just an illusion created by each one of us in front of our eyes, its a screen through which each one of us view this world and the humans living here.
To be completed ...........

A Journey Without The One
Dressed and Packed we were raring to go,
In a group of eighteen,to see the snow.
The spirits were high,so were the expectation,
But I knew this was a journey without the one.
Up and down, left and right,we swayed in motion,
I looked for the person who would have made it fun.
Through the mountains,as we scaled the heights,
I did never lose her in sight.
The place was beautiful, could have been beatific,
Serenity and calm was making me sick.
Snow clad mountains and the frozen lake,
Pleasant and Picturesque, all but for a moments sake.
In peace a soul could rest, but I wanted to run,
Because this journey was without the One.

be the CHANGE
Of all the "Mahatma Gandhi" quotes that I am aware, the one that seems most appealing to me is the much relevant " Be the change you want to see in the world"
The quote probably assumes much more relevance and significance in the situation prevalent in the society today. With more than 50% of our population below 25, there are opinions galore, mostly critical of the state of functioning of the indian government and bureaucracy and corruption and terrorism and lackadaisical attitude and education and what not !!!!. The youth today realises that there is a need for change ,believes in the change ,But as Gandhiji captured about 5 decades back nobody wants to be the change .......
I still find educated people like us indulging in petty acts of corruption like not taking the bus tickets, not being honest with the food bills etc and these are the guys which shall ,on every act of unaccountability by the government or society will snub and vociferously raise questions about the perpetual problems in India. Is it so hard to understand that the society is made up of you and me ?? The small act might seem innocuous and be just a part of fun for you ,but it has a multiplier effect in the long run ,the same effect which you are seeing now.
The same students who raise their voices about the merit of the politicians ,enter into the merit list of the colleges by relentless and open cheating in the examinations ,all for those 5 extra marks. The problem is not the extra 5 marks that they get,the problem is their attitude because there are the people who in the next 10 years will give shape to the "Government and Society" that I talked about in the beginning and they will continue to cheat because thats the way they have come so far ........
I am not infallible or someone who has never done the things mentioned above but ya now I have realised the need to be the change . I wish this now could have come a lot earlier for me and I hope the now comes a lot earlier for a lot of people .....
I get snubbed, stamped as idealistic ,impractical and fussy but I dont stick by the ideals ,I stick by the logic and the logic says "Be the change you want to see in the world"

The title might surprise you, but what I mean is the nature of the humans to see what they can see and not see what they cannot see. Confused ?? precisely that is what I am ..
The winters are almost there(in Kolkata they have just started a few days back) and whats the first sign of the winter season? the freezing of the CO2 that we exhale and do you stop once you have seen it ,No its like the lays "you cant have just one" ,We do it twice, thrice and see our breath freezing in the air and blowing away . Ever wondered why dont we do it in summers ? because we cant see it though we are aware of its existence.
We all, by nature are used to see the obvious, the tangible and the things in front of our eyes as they appear. why not breathe out on a summer day and see the breath moving disappearing in the air along the flow of the wind. We take actions which give an immediate and clearly observable results. Can not be there actions whose result, though there, cant be observed in the way we are used to observe them.

Terror STRIKES !!!! When Will WE ????
The terror has struck again and this time in a rather unconventional and more audacious manner. 20 young men armed with ammunition in their bags and deep ingrained feelings of hatred and nemesis in their heart enter the Indian territory without any hassles and create a havoc in the posh and high security areas of Mumbai. It was an odd attack not just because it had very little similarity to the ways adopted by terrorists before but also because there was a paradigm shift in the target segment (Marketing), the higher class and the CEO`s of multinationals who before this, have been mere audiences to such incidents.
This year ,without doubt, can be termed as the year of terror in India. Every now and then there was news of a bomb blowing up dozens of people to death. One or two emergency meetings, a few investigating committees and commissions and we are done. The chapter is closed only to open the next time we hear a blast. What the high frequency of blasts have done is make the ones with lower impact redundant because these days a blast is compared with a previous blast and if its of a lesser magnitude it is rejected and dismissed without much thought (As if we are used to it) .
They come ,throw some grenades like the fire crackers, place bombs and leave with pride. We give a reaction to their action , run after them for hours and kill them after they have killed hundreds. The return for them 100% , for us 1/100 % ,when we are 2000 and they just 20. Haven`t we waited enough and lost enough in the name of being politically correct in taking our actions? Are we waiting for them to seige Taj Mahal after Taj heritage or Delhi after Mumbai? There is clear evidence and formidable force but still we won`t take the less travelled path.
Rajdeep Sardesai categorically asked a Pakistani official " Sir, we give you the evidence of camps in your country, they are hitting us, give us the permission to destroy them or atleast lets do it together" and the reply "We are committed to curb terrorism , and we would take the necessary action" Bloody hell when would you take the action !!!! after each and every city of our country becomes unsafe, after everybody in this country becomes unsure of his life .
Its time for us to take the action and let the rest of the world give reactions. The time has arrived to put a full stop and destroy the source.Kill them when they dont want to get killed and tell them that we give a damn to what anybody says, we want peace in our country and we would get it by any means. The method adopted might not be the best but every solution is not good still it is a 'solution'.

The metro journey .....
What is this kid doing ? why isnt anybody seeing him ? why is nobody bothered ?
These were the questions that I asked myself when I saw this kid in the metro train from Dwarka to Indraprastha .
He entered with his father holding his one hand .While his father tried to make a way hastily and get himself a seat ,he seemed to be at eternal peace with himself .He didnt bother about the seat all he cared about was to get a place where there is enough space for him to swing his arms and legs and where he would be able to do his little aerobic stunts .Fortunately for me, the place he thought best for him was right in front of me ,though I was out of his circle of action .
As the train started ,he began to get into his own ,oblivious of everbody around him ,something which attracted me .He enacted the sound that the train makes when it starts to accelrate ,by swirling his arms as if riding a bike and as I watched him doing this I couldnt help but simper and I knew I am in for a treat .
As the next station came,I hoped he doesnt get down and I was not hoping against hope .Infact he didnt even move ,but did watch with curiosity the doors getting closed in due time by themselves .
He saw me watching him and I immediately avoided his glance and turned my head 180 degrees .When I turned back (in less than a minute ofcourse) I saw him punching in the air ,he was furious as if determined to beat the air around him .He was involved in this incongruous act of his with a panache and saw nothing but the air in front of him .As I sat watching him ,I wondered when I last felt so insouciant .
The metro doors opened again ,he stopped his punching and started a countdown from 10 looking at the doors and as he reached zero ,the doors closed and I heard myself saying a yes in his accomplishment .His father had managed a seat by now and had already pestered him a no. of times to sit with him ,but who had the time to sit and relax ? Occassionaly he would go to his father ,take rest for not more than 15 secs and comeback with his antics .
As his acts grew repetitive ,I went into retrospection and wondered why didnt anybody pay heed to him ,for ,I am sure if I would have been doing all this ,not even a single person would like to have missed the opportunity of seeing a well dressed maniac. Does being an adult makes such a difference ?Is it necessary to lose the child in you as you attain adulthood ? Or is it a crime to break free and be yourself even for half an hour ? Why does the society becomes ignorant with a child and so scrutinizing with an adult ?
As I muddled with these questions ,I raised my head and saw the train was nearly vacant ,but the kid was still there ,this time hanging on the bar above his head and fighting the air with his kicks .
The doors opened again ,and it was my turn to get down ,I looked at the kid ,made a small gesture of a bye and got down .As I glanced for the last time ,I could see him counting 9,8,.... and I hoped his soliloquy never ends .

Creativity at its best (ApNe MuAh mIYah MiTHuN)
I came to the fore in Nineties ,
generating excitement and a lot of anxiety ,
I made people think the unthinkable ,
promised ability even to a disable,
I saw the world with a telescope ,
created objects difficult to view even under a miscroscope
Today I am Everywhere,
Left,Right ,North,South,Here and There,
I walk and live with you, hear and talk to you ,
I am inside you,in your pocket and even in your shoe .
I am the cause ,I am the factor ,
I am not a super human , I am the SemiConductor .

I am a MISFIT
I see the DAY ,I see the MOON,
I see the Night,I see the Sun,
I see what others Dont see,
I do what others dont do,
I am a Misfit
I love what people hate,
I starve when people satiate,
I run when people wait,
I walk with my legs straight,
I am a misfit
I cry when othes laugh,
I laugh when others cry,
I dont feel what others feel,
I am immune to what is contagious,
I am a misfit
To me A is B and B is A,
You is me and Me is me,
I dont care what others want,
I am selfish ,I am egoist,
I am a misfit

CORPORATE MAKEUP
Why do I want to write this blog ? I have questioned myself umpteen number of times now without getting a credible answer. Why do I need to make my feelings ,thoughts ,opinions public ? Why don`t I keep them with myself like the 90% of the world does ? Why don`t I learn to pretend ?
To be true the last question forms the basis of all the questions ,if I get the answer to it ,thats it ,the job is done and for me the answer is "is pretention worth learning ,arent there millions of other sensible things to learn " .Isnt it abominable to lose your identity and go with your body smeared with a makeup ,a makeup which becomes indelible if put on for a long time .
I might not be sounding pragmatic to 90 % of the people who read this blog because they preen themselves every morning with the requisite amount of what should I say "CORPORATE MAKEUP" which has become such a customary habbit now that they do it unconciously .But its not easy to carry a corporate makeup ,you got to be meticulous at what you dont have to do (what an irony man !!!! you got to think what you should do but alas....) ,adopt silence at times you know you are correct ,talk at times even if you know you are talking gibberish ,pretend oblivion just to avoid refutation and exhibit omniscience just to sound cognizant. The list doesnt end here ,all your moves should be so adeptly planned and meticoulously executed that even the irrelevant ones gain relevance ,then,at times your actions should not complement your reactions and there should always be a constant hunger to improve your market worth rather than self worth .
Having said all this I also belive its not an idealistic world and hence faster you adapt better it is because its not easy to fight your ideals alone .You have to live and provide for the sustenance of yourself and your family.Afterall not everyone can fight like "Howard Roark" and not everyone who fights like him get someone like "Gail Wynand"
P.S. :The opinions expressed here does not or rather should not reflect the opinion of the public .

APPRECIATION : Appreciate It .......
When i started blogging ,i thought i would write on all topics under the sun ,but i don`t want my blogs to be a miscellany and would rather stick to writing on metaphysical topics.
Appreciation , one word which is most appreciated by everybody ,is something for which we all are extremely covetous and crave for whole or any part of it or should i say live for !! This might seem an exaggeration but more than often its true .We expect it everytime sometimes hoping against hope, but never lose the hope . It becomes a need sometimes irrestible enough to turn a person eccentric indulging in whimsical acts to make his presence felt ,to make himself conspicious ,to get the accolades (deserving or undeserving ,it hardly matters) .This need on the other hand also seldom acts as a catalyst driving the best out of a person at his workplace or home .Each word of appreciation makes you happy ,contended but paradoxically it also leaves you asking for more and from the next time its not one but two words that you need to satisfy your striving soul .The number keeps on increasing till the culmination is reached which is surprisingly different even for non-different people .
But there is darker side to it too.Every piece of cake that you get from your boss comes loaded with expectations and resposibilities which forms the cream ,to get the cake you got to take the cream first and fortunately (if you love the cake toppings ) or unfortunately the cream stratum keeps on increasing while the cake pith remains the same .
Oops am i forgetting something, to get it ,there must be someone to give it ,the latter always less in number than the former ..Its often more difficult to give than to take.To give whole hearted appreciation without malicious intent is a big task itself ,and very rarely would you find somebody executing it to perfection. and that somebody needs to be appreciated because he deserves it and owns it .But WHO will ??????

Unfulfilled desires ........,the Urge within..............
I believe there will be a few ,exceptionably lucky people ,who would`nt conform to the above title ;the rest would surely be able to relate to the title at some point of their life .Everybody has been sent for a very special purpose ,a purpose which is abstruse ,crypted and generally unfathomable ,something which normally a person dies discovering .At various times in our lives we realise that what we are doing isnt what we are supposed to be do or what we can do best ,but the realisation omes late ,we almost get trapped in the mores of life leaving us with no option but to reject the realisation as a fanciful idea and get on to what we are doing .
But the realisation once realised is indelible ,it continues to poke you everytime you keep your cereberrum at rest and nearly everytime it leaves some traces which refuses to efface out no matter how hard you try .The monotonous job and society led restrictions also aggrandize the feeling and waxes the frequency of realisation .Then the punches become real strong ,you start feeling anachronistic ,out of place ,everything but normal and an urge develops to DO something ,Do something to satisfy the urge itself ,what an irony !! .a perfect imbroglio !!The normal human perplexed by this thought rambles for a while ,stops to ponder for some time ,and when fails to arbitrate ,rejects the whole idea as specious and goes to slumber .but the thought doesnt leave him and unfortunately he lives with the feeling of an underperformer ,surely an unsatisfying life .
The one who is not normal ( the society calls him abnormal) tries to satisfy the urge and because the urge itself is reponsible for that trial ,his trial has to be a big one ,big enough to satiate the urge .Such a person who tries ,is DOing something in the real sense of doing and he is the one who achieves the culmination of heroism ,HERO not of the society or country but of himself ,his heart ,his soul .

Times of India lead campaign :My take .....
Its quite some time now since i wrote my last blog.....got busy following the mundane mores of life .
What puts me into writing again is the lead india campaign launched by times of india ,quite a remarkable and thought provoking campaign which does require a little more ponderance .
To begin with ,when i first read the theme of the campaign: "Domination begins with DO ,so getup and DO" on the front page of TOI `s15th August edition i felt quite good about the whole idea ,it seemed different and looked like it does have some promise .As i deleved more into the campaign it transpired that they would be using SRK to promote the whole programme and that he would be acting as one of the arbitrators .This relevation ,sort of ,acted like a decatalyst for me ,for i found the protagonist unworthy of the huge responsibity that this campaign invloves .
One of my friends recently reiterated the fact that only two things sell in INDIA like hot cakes and they are as is known to everybody "SEX and SRK" ,but is TOI really aiming to sell anything through this campaign ?Is it more of a publicity stunt for their paper to remain the best selling newspaper in Delhi or are they really looking for some dynamic maverick youth of our country who believe that change is the only unchanging fact of life and are ready to take the government by horns .If they conform to the latter then i must say using SRK as the brand ambassador for the campaign , to me, is an outcome of some specious reasoning and a decision taken in haste .
If the rationale behind the decision sits on the assumption that SRK would make the campaign popular and more youth would listen to him they are very correct but perhaps have forgotten that the campaign aims to look not for people who impressed by some eminent personality but for those who feel oppressed and dejected at the current political and economic condition in INDIA and who envisage and want to build a future in which INDIA would be a developed nation in all its connotations .
Abdul Kalam could have been the most suited person for this job, for his popularity is out of the tremendous work that he has done for his country in the past ,not forgetting the fact that his latest role as president of India has made him more propular with the common people of our country .The Indian youth and children see him as an idol and he very nearly epitomises the word, patriotic .
But having said all of the above , i still believe in the campaign and hope that it brings forth people ,thoughts, ideas that would help our country attain the pinnacle heights and grow into an economic superpower with the common people as the beneficiaries .I end my blog here ,wishing TOI my congratulations (for successful launch of the campaign) and all the very best that they end it by DOing something .
(To all the diehard SRK fans .I am not against him ,i m against the idea of using him for this campaign) .
